For real this time...I'm gonna do it.

I've finally made the decision to actually put some effort into this blog deal.  Who knows how long I've had the account.  Out of pure shame I won't look at the establish date.  I know when I opened the account I was running in circles.  What have I been doing since?....RUNNING IN CIRCLES!  Hahaha!

Here's a little background on myself and family.  I'm a 30-something rez girl (college dropout) turned suburban stay-at-home mom, raising our two kids, Hineh (Thunder) and Sialik Ho:hi (Morning Dove, aka Bird), with Big Daddy (my husband).  I'm Akimel O'odham (Pima) from the mighty Salt River in AZ, Big Daddy is Coharie Tuscarora from NC.  I've always enjoyed photography and crafty stuff, even though I'm not all that good at it.  HA!  Big Daddy has way more confidence in my abilities than I, he thinks I could walk into any photog job and nail it.  Not the case at all, working for the Portrait Studio in Kmart hardly constitutes as being a "professional photographer".  I love photography and the chance to create meaningful portraits and I do when I remember to pack my camera.  After 34 years I've accepted the purpose the Good Lord created me for, so my focus now is to fulfill that purpose.

Sometime after having Bird, I, or rather my shrink, discovered I have A.D.D..  That's currently the major battle I'm tackling now.  How to thrive instead of just survive with it.  Learning strategies, coping skills, basically learning how to retrain my lame brain.  The hardest part is implementing the skills and FOLLOWING THROUGH!!!  Kind of ridiculous when you think about it.  Expecting a ADD'er to stay focused on the long term goals.  Heck, I can barely keep focused on the short term things. lol.  Needless to say I'm a work in progress but then again who isn't. Right?

The two things that are absolutes to keep me focused and on track are Scripture and staying spiritually connected; and by spiritually connected I mean meditation and ceremonial ways. It only took me almost 30 years to figure it out but I got it. Ya hear me Tunkashila, I got it....I think.
